The Uttarakhand tourism department has joined hands with Indian Railways to introduce the Manaskhand Corridor Yatra, with a focus on showcasing the ancient temples nestled in the Kumaon region. District Tourism Officer Kirti Chand Arya disclosed plans for a special train journeying from Pune to Tanakpur in Pithoragarh district, commencing on April 22. This collaborative initiative aims to boost tourism by enabling travelers to delve into the rich cultural heritage and architectural wonders of Uttarakhand.
The specially chartered train will accommodate over 600 pilgrims in two separate batches for an immersive experience visiting the renowned 'Manaskhand' temples. Derived from ancient Hindu scriptures, 'Manaskhand' specifically denotes the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Pilgrims will have the opportunity to explore and offer prayers at the sacred sites nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of Kumaon, immersing themselves in the spiritual essence of the region.

The Manaskhand temples tour package, spanning 7 days and 6 nights, promises pilgrims a comprehensive journey through the revered sites. Upon arrival, pilgrims will disembark at Khatima, located about one kilometer from Tanakpur, and be transported to the temples via road. One train will depart from Pune on April 22, reaching Khatima by April 24, with another scheduled to depart from Pune on April 24 and arrive at Khatima by April 26. Khatima has been chosen as the final stop due to its superior amenities, including hotels, ensuring a comfortable stay for pilgrims.
As part of the tour package, devotees will embark on a pilgrimage to various temples and religious sites situated in Tanakpur, Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Almora, where they will receive detailed insights into the mythological significance of these places. The itinerary encompasses visits to several notable temples including Baleswar, Maneswar, and Mayawati in Champawat; Hat Kalika and Patal Bhubaneswar in Pithoragarh; Jageswar and Golu Devta in Chitai; as well as Nanda Devi, Kasar Devi, and Katarmal in Almora. Additionally, pilgrims will visit Nanakmatta Sahib Gurudwara in Udham Singh Nagar and the Naina Devi temple in Nainital, providing a glimpse into the rich religious and cultural heritage of Uttarakhand.
