Man Who Shared Anti-Trump Posts Kills Wife, Ex-Partner, and 2 Sons

A 46-year-old man, identified as Anthony Nephew, allegedly killed his wife, ex-partner, and two sons before taking his own life in Duluth, Minnesota, on Thursday. Authorities discovered the bodies in two separate homes, with Nephew's ex-partner, Erin Abramson, and their son, Jacob Nephew, found shot to death in one residence. In the second home, Nephew’s wife, Kathryn Nephew, and their 7-year-old son, Oliver Nephew, were found dead, also believed to be from gunshot wounds. After identifying Nephew as the prime suspect, police found his body at the family home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police Chief Mike Ceynowa confirmed that Nephew had previously posted anti-Trump sentiments on his social media and had a history of mental health issues. One of his posts, dating back to July, stated that his mental health and the world could no longer coexist peacefully, expressing fear of religious zealots and intrusive thoughts about being persecuted. He also shared feelings of fear and frustration about politics, mentioning the difficulty women face in leaving abusive relationships and referencing the dystopian novel "The Handmaid’s Tale."

In other posts, Nephew wrote disparaging comments about former U.S. President Donald Trump and his administration. One post featured an image of Trump alongside Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, with the word "hate" written under Trump’s face and words like "hope," "heal," and "grow" under the Democrats. Nephew also shared his desire for better candidates in both major political parties, identifying himself as an Independent voter.

At this stage, Duluth police have not determined a clear motive behind the killings but emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community. They continue their investigation into the tragic event.
