Man run over by plane at Hong Kong airport

In a tragic incident at Hong Kong Airport, a 34-year-old Jordanian national, an employee at ground support and maintenance firm China Aircraft Services, lost his life when he was hit by a towed aircraft on Tuesday. The victim, who was riding in the passenger seat of a tow truck, fell out of the vehicle and was struck by the plane it was towing.

Emergency responders discovered the man with severe injuries on a taxiway during the early hours of Tuesday. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hong Kong airport authority revealed that it is suspected the seat belt was left unfastened while the employee was working on the vehicle.

The 60-year-old driver of the tow truck has been arrested on charges of dangerous driving causing death and is currently in custody pending an investigation, as stated by the police. The airport authority emphasized the ongoing probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

China Aircraft Services, the employer of the deceased, has not yet responded to AFP's request for comment.
