Liwa Sports Club successfully organised the second Purebred Arabian Horse Race on Thursday, attracting elite owners, riders, and enthusiasts from across the Al Dhafra region. The event highlighted the ongoing efforts to promote and preserve purebred horse racing, a key part of the region’s equestrian heritage.
The first race covered a distance of 1,700 metres and saw “Al Habeeb,” owned by Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, claim first place. In a closely contested race, “Safeer,” owned by Ahmed Mohammed Fan Al Muhairbi, finished second, while “Sand,” owned by Saif A’shair Ali Al Mazrouei, came in third. Spectators were treated to an intense competition that showcased the speed, stamina, and skill of both horses and riders.
The second race, conducted over 1,400 metres, was equally thrilling. “Maktoob,” also owned by Ali Suhail Ali Al Mazrouei, took first place after a fast-paced run. “Janjal,” owned by Saif A’shair Al Mazrouei, secured second position, while “Meeqat,” owned by Fan Mohammed Fan, came third. The race demonstrated the high level of training and dedication among the participating stables.
Liwa Sports Club emphasised that the event is part of a series of sporting activities designed to support the tradition of purebred Arabian horse racing. By holding such competitions, the club aims to preserve the rich equestrian culture of the Al Dhafra region while encouraging young riders and owners to participate actively in this heritage sport.
The races drew attention from local communities, horse enthusiasts, and professional riders. Owners and trainers showcased their best horses, highlighting the quality of breeding and training in the UAE. The event also served as a platform for interaction and networking among stakeholders in the equestrian field.
With the success of the second race, Liwa Sports Club continues to strengthen its commitment to Arabian horse racing. The club plans to organise more events throughout the year, ensuring that the tradition thrives and inspires future generations. Such initiatives are expected to elevate the sport’s profile both nationally and internationally.
The second Purebred Arabian Horse Race at Liwa Sports Club was a celebration of skill, speed, and tradition. With strong performances from horses like “Al Habeeb” and “Maktoob,” the event not only entertained spectators but also reinforced the UAE’s dedication to preserving its equestrian heritage.
