LeBron James and his son Bronny took center stage at the Los Angeles Lakers’ media day, marking a significant moment just weeks before the start of the 2024-25 NBA season. LeBron had long expressed his desire to play alongside his son before his career ended, and now that dream has become a reality with Bronny, 19, officially joining the Lakers.
During the event, LeBron was asked to reflect on his emotions about this unique father-son dynamic. "Just pure joy, man," he said, visibly moved. "I don't have any words. You guys ask me questions about me, but when it comes to him, I'm just at a loss for words. I’m just super proud. Super proud of him to get to this point. He’s a man. He’s ready to go."

Bronny echoed his father's sentiments, sharing his disbelief at the situation. "This is a crazy feeling," he remarked. "Just looking over at my dad taking pictures, it was like, ‘What's going on right now?’ That was literally my thought. Just kind of take it all in. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity."
The media day involved typical activities, with the father-son duo posing for photos and engaging with reporters. However, the reality of their new roles as teammates will soon set in, as the Lakers are gearing up for their season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
New head coach JJ Redick, who has a friendship with LeBron and is stepping into his first head-coaching role, was asked about how the team plans to utilize both Jameses on the court together. "We don't have anything planned, per se, in terms of a commitment to do it this way," he noted. "We’ve obviously talked about it as a staff and gotten into specifics, but we haven’t committed to anything."
As LeBron prepares for his 22nd NBA season—tying Vince Carter for the most in league history—he emphasized his current state. "I feel really good physically," he stated. "Mentally, I feel really good. Really sharp. Very fresh. I’m looking forward to getting to work tomorrow. I haven’t thought about what the future holds. I’m just living in the moment, especially with Bronny being here. I don’t want to take this moment for granted."
With their unique journey ahead, both LeBron and Bronny James are poised to make history as they take the court together in the upcoming season.
