Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), in partnership with the Project Management Institute (PMI) based in the United States, has launched a specialized training initiative focused on construction project management. The program targets the development of human resources across various roles within RTA, including engineers, project managers, and department heads. It emphasizes practical project management techniques, effective communication among project teams, mastery of project control aspects, and comprehensive training in contract and risk management.
Athari Mohamed, Director of Human Resources and Development at RTA's Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, highlighted that the program is designed for 80 employees and represents a significant collaboration between RTA and PMI. It encompasses the review of developmental programs and professional certifications pertinent to RTA's specialized domains. Notably, this newly accredited professional certificate in construction project management is the latest addition to PMI’s certification offerings.

The training sessions will be conducted in person at RTA's training center from May to December 2024. The primary objective is to enhance the knowledge and skills of professionals engaged in construction projects, thereby boosting their operational effectiveness. Participants will gain valuable insights into managing RTA’s infrastructure projects, encompassing areas such as highways, road design, safety audits, traffic safety engineering, material quality assurance, and project contract management.
Athari emphasized that the program aims to elevate the efficiency and proficiency of RTA employees, particularly nationals, by equipping them with an internationally recognized professional certification from PMI. This initiative underscores RTA’s commitment to implementing globally accredited specialized training programs. The progress of trainees and the impact of the program will be rigorously assessed using approved methodologies, culminating in participants’ eligibility for the final examination upon completing the training sessions.
In conclusion, this strategic partnership between RTA and PMI aims to empower professionals within the organization through advanced training in construction project management, ultimately fostering excellence in delivering critical infrastructure projects across Dubai.
