In a tragic turn of events, the body of a young Kolkata doctor who was raped and murdered was discovered in a seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Friday morning. The doctor, who had been on-call duty, had spent the previous night watching the Paris Olympics 2024 with her colleagues before the crime occurred. They had ordered dinner and watched the final featuring javelin star Neeraj Chopra in the seminar room around 12:30 AM, after which she retired to bed in the same room.

Sanjoy Roy, a 33-year-old civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was arrested in connection with the crime. Roy, who has been married multiple times and was known for his problematic behavior, reportedly had an addiction to pornography. His mobile phone contained disturbing and violent content, raising concerns about his mental state. During the investigation, it was revealed that Roy had a history of physically abusing his former wives.
