Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Hosts Global Leaders at ENACT Majlis in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has underscored the critical need for strengthening strategic collaborations and partnerships on both regional and global scales in the areas of artificial intelligence, advanced technology, energy, and climate. The remarks were made during a significant meeting held at the Abu Dhabi Energy Centre, which gathered over 80 leaders from various sectors, including energy, technology, climate, and investment, for the ENACT Majlis. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the importance of intensifying global efforts among diverse stakeholders to explore effective methods of leveraging the numerous economic and social opportunities arising from the intersection of AI, energy, and climate.

His Highness pointed out that tangible progress in these fields can be achieved through the exchange of expertise and knowledge among global partners involved in these critical sectors. He expressed the commitment of both the UAE and Abu Dhabi to embrace and enhance sustainable practices and solutions across all industries. He highlighted the necessity of leveraging cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence and digital technologies within the energy sector while simultaneously supporting innovative projects aimed at clean and low-emission energy. This commitment aims to propel global advancements in utilizing artificial intelligence for the future of energy and facilitate the ongoing transition to sustainable energy sources.

The meeting, which brought together senior leaders in technology, energy, and climate, served as a crucial global platform for enhancing the exchange of knowledge and expertise across these essential fields. Sheikh Khaled reiterated that this gathering plays a vital role in advancing sustainable development and supporting the global shift toward clean energy by aligning shared efforts and visions. The focus is on applying AI solutions and technologies in these sectors to achieve a positive impact at local, regional, and global levels.

The ENACT Majlis, an invitation-only event convened by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC, was conducted under Chatham House rules, with the theme "AI and Energy: Powering a Sustainable Future." Grounded in longstanding Emirati traditions, the Majlis provided a forum for open, bold, and solutions-oriented discussions.

This gathering followed the release of a joint report by ADNOC, Masdar, and Microsoft titled "Powering Possible: AI and Energy for a Sustainable Future." The ENACT Majlis also took place on the eve of ADIPEC 2024, the world’s largest energy event, being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from November 4 to 7, 2024.

Among the notable participants at the ENACT Majlis were Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice, Founder of BY-EQ; Brad Smith, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft; Jonathan Ross, CEO and Founder of Groq; Strive Masiyiwa, Chairman and Founder of Econet; Anima Anandkumar, Bren Professor at Caltech; Adebayo Ogunlesi, Chairman and CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners; Mark Carney, UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, and Chair of Brookfield Asset Management; Luc Remont, CEO of EDF; Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell; Murray Auchincloss, CEO of BP; Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni; Dong Sub Kim, CEO of KNOC; Takayuki Ueda, CEO of INPEX; Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies; and Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and GCEO of Petronas.
