DUBAI — Tragedy struck in Dubai’s Deira area when 19-year-old Mohammed Mishaal, a resident of Kozhikode, Kerala, fell from the terrace of a multi-story building. Mishaal, who had been visiting his cousins in the UAE for about 15 days, was rushed to Rashid Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Family friends described Mishaal as an adventurous young man. He had reportedly climbed the building when he lost his balance after his leg got stuck between two pipes, causing him to fall from the terrace.
“He was staying with his cousins here while his parents remained in Kozhikode. It’s a tragic loss for the family,” said family friend Haneefa K K. Mishaal was pursuing a diploma in civil engineering at a college in Kozhikode and is survived by his parents and two sisters.
The incident highlights the dangers faced by young adults in high-rise buildings. Mishaal is the second teenager to die from a fall in the UAE this year, following the death of 17-year-old Alex Binoy in Abu Dhabi in April.
Authorities are completing legal formalities, and arrangements are being made to repatriate Mishaal’s body to Kerala. The accident has sent shockwaves through his family and community, emphasizing the importance of safety in high-rise areas.
