Kamala Harris Prepares for Elections as Mallika Sherawat's 2009 Prediction Goes Viral

New Delhi – Kamala Harris has officially been named the Democratic Presidential candidate for the November 2024 US elections, succeeding President Joe Biden who withdrew from the race last month. This historic nomination has reignited interest in a 2009 prediction made by Indian actor Mallika Sherawat, which has recently gone viral.

Sherawat, known for her roles in Bollywood films such as Murder (2004) and Welcome (2007), praised Harris for her self-made political career. Reflecting on their past encounter, Sherawat told Vanity Fair, "Coming from India, female politicians are so rare. If they are there, they come from very dynastic or royal families. Here I was meeting a lady who had built everything with her own two hands."

The resurfaced tweet from 2009, in which Sherawat commented on meeting Harris and hinted at her potential future as US President, has captured widespread attention. At the time, Sherawat tweeted, "Having fun at a fancy event with a woman who they say could be US President, Kamala Harris. Chicks rule." This early remark, made when Harris was a San Francisco attorney, has been met with enthusiasm on social media, with many calling Sherawat’s prediction prescient.

Sherawat and Harris first crossed paths at a Beverly Hills fundraiser for Harris in 2009, where Sherawat was attending as part of her role in the indie film Politics of Love (2011). In the film, Sherawat portrayed a campaign worker for Barack Obama, a character inspired by Harris. Sherawat recalled feeling out of place at the event but appreciated Harris’s warm guidance, which included advice on stepping out of her comfort zone.

Harris's rise from being a district attorney to the Democratic presidential nominee has been marked by significant political and personal developments. The current political landscape features former President Donald Trump as the oldest candidate in the race, alongside a series of attacks directed at Harris from Trump.

Sherawat's recollection of their meeting also includes a casual conversation where she asked Harris if she thought she could be president one day. Harris's confident response, "Why not?" has become a notable moment in the context of her historic candidacy.

If elected, Kamala Harris would make history as the first female and first Black President of the United States. The film Politics of Love serves as a notable chapter in Harris's trajectory, reflecting on her journey from a campaign worker's inspiration to a major political figure.

Mallika Sherawat, who last appeared in the 2021 comedy-drama RK/RKay, has long been recognized for her contributions to Bollywood. Her early support and insights into Harris's potential future continue to resonate as Harris's presidential campaign unfolds.
