John Lithgow on Playing Dumbledore in Harry Potter Series

Actor John Lithgow is going to play Professor Dumbledore in the new Harry Potter TV show. The show is based on the famous books written by J.K. Rowling. Some fans are not happy because John is not from England. But John says he will try his best to do a good job.

Before John, the role of Dumbledore was played by two actors. First, it was Richard Harris in the first two movies. After he passed away, Michael Gambon played Dumbledore in the rest of the movies. Many people liked his work and remember him as the true Dumbledore.

John said in an interview, “I know Michael Gambon did a great job. I am not English, but I have played an Englishman before. I played Winston Churchill, and people liked that.” He added, “I know some people are not happy that an American is playing Dumbledore, but I will give my best.”

John also said that Dumbledore is a character who does not appear too much. He said, “Dumbledore is like a secret weapon. He comes in only when needed. So I don’t think the role will be too hard.”

Other actors are also joining the new Harry Potter show. Janet McTeer will play Professor McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu will be Professor Snape, Nick Frost will be Hagrid, Luke Thallon will be Professor Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse will be Filch.

In the past, Jude Law also played a young Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts movies.

Now, fans are waiting to see how John Lithgow will play the wise and kind headmaster in the new series. Some may be unsure, but others are excited to see his version of the character.
