Israeli forces conducted airstrikes on tent camps for displaced Palestinians north of Rafah on Friday, resulting in at least 25 deaths and 50 injuries, as reported by Gaza’s Health Ministry and emergency responders. The strikes targeted locations outside an Israeli-designated safe zone in Muwasi, a coastal area now filled with tents. Witnesses informed Civil Defense first responders about the shelling at two separate sites.
The Israeli military stated it was investigating the reported coordinates of the strikes. These attacks occurred amid Israel's ongoing military operations in Rafah, where many Palestinians sought refuge amid conflict with Hamas. Although most have fled Rafah, the United Nations warns that no area in Gaza is safe, with dire humanitarian conditions exacerbated by shortages of food, water, and medical supplies in makeshift shelters and crowded apartments.

Less than a month ago, an Israeli airstrike triggered a deadly fire in a displaced Palestinian camp in southern Gaza, prompting international condemnation. Israel asserts it targets Hamas fighters and infrastructure, attributing civilian casualties to militants operating within civilian areas.
The conflict, now in its ninth month, has drawn increasing international criticism for Israel's extensive military actions in Gaza, resulting in significant civilian casualties. The United Nations has expressed concern about potential genocide risks in Gaza, a claim strongly denied by Israel. According to Gaza's Health Ministry, Israeli ground offensives and airstrikes have killed over 37,100 people, with no differentiation between combatants and civilians.
Israel launched its military campaign following Hamas' October 7 attack, which led to casualties and abductions in southern Israel, escalating tensions and violence in the region.
