Israel has commemorated the victims of the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023, which resulted in around 1,200 deaths and 251 hostages. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to prevent such assaults in the future, asserting that Israel's armed forces are altering the region's security dynamics. Since the attack, nearly 42,000 people have died in Israel's ongoing offensive in Gaza, as reported by the Hamas-run health ministry.

During the memorial events, Israel intercepted over 100 rockets launched by Hezbollah in Lebanon and other projectiles from Yemen's Houthis and Hamas in Gaza. Rocket sirens sounded in northern Israel, prompting several towns to be declared closed military zones as Israel prepares to expand its ground offensive into Lebanon.
On Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the death of Suhail Hussein Husseini, Hezbollah's logistics commander, in a targeted strike near Beirut. The IDF stated that Husseini managed Hezbollah's sensitive projects, including war planning and special operations.
The U.S. supports targeting Hezbollah but is concerned that Israel's operations could escalate into a larger conflict. CIA Director William Burns warned of the risk of further regional escalation amid discussions on Israel's response to last week's Iranian missile attack.
