In a significant address at Friday prayers, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei praised the recent missile attack on Israel, calling it a “shining” achievement by Iran's armed forces. This was Khamenei's first appearance at the Friday prayers in about five years, where he reaffirmed Iran's readiness to launch further strikes if necessary.

During his speech, Khamenei emphasized that the missile barrage on Tuesday, which involved the launch of at least 180 missiles toward Israel, was a response to the escalating hostilities in the region. Israel reported successfully intercepting many of these missiles, with U.S. destroyers reportedly assisting in the defense efforts. However, Iranian officials claimed that most of their missiles hit their intended targets, though there were no immediate reports of casualties.
Khamenei referred to the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on southern Israel as a legitimate act by the Palestinian people, reinforcing his view that the missile strike was justified under international law, Iran's domestic laws, and Islamic principles. He urged countries across the region, from Afghanistan to Yemen, to prepare for further actions against their adversaries and praised those who had sacrificed their lives in the struggle.
Addressing a crowd of thousands at the Mosalla mosque in Tehran, Khamenei delivered part of his speech in Arabic, specifically directed at Arab nations. He encouraged the “resisting people in Lebanon and Palestine” to remain steadfast in their efforts, stating that the martyrdom of their comrades should strengthen their resolve rather than diminish it.
This address followed a ceremony commemorating the late Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, attended by top Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and senior Revolutionary Guard generals. Khamenei’s last Friday prayers address occurred after the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
In a related development, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Beirut to discuss the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah with Lebanese officials. The Iranian Foreign Ministry also announced the shipment of aid to Lebanon, which included ten tons of food and medicine, highlighting Iran's ongoing support for Hezbollah and its allies in the region.
