Post by: Layla Badr

Apple has released a new update called iOS 18.4 for eligible iPhones. This update brings some cool new features and improvements, especially with Apple Intelligence, which is a new set of smart features for your iPhone. Here’s a detailed look at what’s new in iOS 18.4:

New Apple Intelligence Features

  • Priority Notifications: Now, your most important notifications will appear at the top of your screen, so you can see and respond to them quickly.

  • Visual Intelligence: This feature is now available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. It lets you do things like summarise and translate text, find phone numbers and email addresses, and even search for things using images. If you have an iPhone 15 Pro, you can use this feature with the Action Button.

  • Sketch in Image Playground: This new feature lets you create sketch-like drawings in a fun, artistic style.

  • Expanded Language Support: Apple Intelligence now works with many more languages. This includes English (India), along with languages like Bangla, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Now, more people around the world can use Apple Intelligence in their local language.

Apple Vision Pro App

For people who own the Apple Vision Pro headset, there is a new app that comes pre-installed with iOS 18.4. This app helps users discover content, explore spatial experiences, and check device information easily.

  • Cooking Mode: This feature provides step-by-step instructions for cooking your favorite dishes.

  • Expanded Food Section: You can now read more articles about restaurants, kitchen tips, and healthy eating.

Photos Improvements

  • There are new filtering options in Photos, so you can hide or show items that aren’t in albums or synced from your Mac or PC.

  • You can now reorder items in different collections and choose whether to sort them by oldest or newest.

  • There’s a new way to organize albums by when they were last modified.

  • If you want, you can turn off the “Recently Viewed” and “Recently Shared” sections in the settings.

  • If you use Face ID protection, hidden photos will no longer be imported from your Mac or PC.

New Emojis

The update also includes eight new emojis! These include new objects, plants, and a smiley face. So, now you can express yourself even more with different emojis.

Other Enhancements and Fixes

  • Safari Search Suggestions: When you search on Safari, you can quickly find previous topics you searched for.

  • Child Account Setup: It’s now easier for parents to create a child account in their family group. They can also set child-friendly settings and finish setting up the account later.

  • Screen Time Limits: Even if a child uninstalls and reinstalls an app, the Screen Time limits will still apply.

  • App Store Features: The App Store now shows summaries of user reviews, so you can easily see what others think of an app. You can also pause and resume an app download without losing progress.

  • New Widgets for Podcasts: There are new widgets for podcasts, like a “Followed Shows” widget and a “Library” widget. This helps you track your favorite shows and find your most used sections.

  • Ambient Music: You can now instantly play music from the Control Center with hand-curated playlists for daily life.

  • Apple Fitness+ Collections: You can now add your favorite Apple Fitness+ collections to your Library.

  • Robot Vacuum Control: If you have a Matter-compatible robot vacuum, you can control it using the Home app. You can also add it to scenes and automations.

This update is packed with new features that make your iPhone even smarter and more fun to use. Whether you want better notifications, more language options, or just a better user experience, iOS 18.4 has it all.
