Injured Maignan to Return to Milan After Hospital Stay

AC Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, was taken to the hospital after a bad head clash with his teammate, Alex Jimenez, during their 4-0 win against Udinese. The incident happened in the second half when Maignan tried to stop the ball and collided with Jimenez. Maignan was knocked unconscious and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

After the accident, Maignan was kept in the hospital overnight for observation. The club said he would be heading back to Milan on Saturday.

Jimenez also got hurt in the head during the collision, but he played for a while before having to leave the field 18 minutes later.

Milan’s defender, Matteo Gabbia, spoke to reporters after the game and shared that the doctor said Maignan was fine and only needed some tests at the hospital. “Mike is doing okay. He’s a great captain,” Gabbia said.

Despite the injury scare, Milan won the match 4-0. Rafael Leao and Strahinja Pavlovic scored just before halftime, and Theo Hernandez added a third goal in the 74th minute. Finally, Tijjani Reijnders scored the fourth goal to finish the match.
