Houston: A tragic incident unfolded in Dallas, Texas, where 32-year-old Dasari Gopikrishna, originally from Bapatla district in Andhra Pradesh, India, was fatally shot during a robbery at a gas station convenience store. Gopikrishna had arrived in the United States just eight months ago in pursuit of opportunities.
The robbery occurred in Pleasant Grove on June 21, shocking the local community and prompting condolences from Consul General D C Manjunath, who was in Dallas for a Yoga Day event. He clarified that earlier reports linking the incident to a shooting in Arkansas were inaccurate.
"We are deeply saddened to learn about the tragic demise of Indian national Gopi Krishna Dasari in a robbery shooting incident at Pleasant Grove, Dallas, TX, and are in touch with local family members," expressed Consul General Manjunath, extending sympathy to Gopikrishna's family.

Efforts are underway by the Indian Consulate, supported by local Indian associations, to assist with the repatriation of Gopikrishna's remains to India. This process includes completing necessary formalities such as autopsy and obtaining death certificates.
Gopikrishna sustained severe injuries during the robbery and was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he tragically passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment. His untimely death has deeply impacted the Indian community in Dallas and surrounding regions, leaving behind his wife and young son.
The incident underscores concerns over security and safety, prompting local authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the robbery and shooting as the community mourns the loss of a promising life taken too soon.
