Marriage is not always easy. It takes love, patience, and effort from both partners. Every couple faces ups and downs, but what makes a relationship last is how they handle those moments together. An Indian couple, Bhavna and Sachin Jain, recently shared the “slightly unhinged rules” that help them stay strong and happy in their marriage — and their ideas are winning hearts online.
Bhavna, a content creator, and her husband Sachin say that their marriage is far from perfect. But they have created a few personal rules that make their bond stronger. These are not taken from books, podcasts, or relationship coaches. Instead, they come from their real-life experiences — from fights, silent evenings, and learning how to grow together.
The couple believes that relationships don’t need to follow what others say is “right.” What really matters is finding what works for both people and makes them feel safe, respected, and understood. They say these small but meaningful rules help them stay “grounded, close, and a little bit sane.”
Here are the rules that Bhavna and Sachin follow in their marriage:
Rule 1: Going to bed angry is sometimes okay.
Many people believe couples should never sleep after a fight, but Bhavna and Sachin think otherwise. They say it’s fine to go to bed angry sometimes because not every problem has to be solved right away. Taking time to calm down helps both partners understand each other better the next day.
Rule 2: No phones or screens in the bedroom.
The couple has a strict rule — once they enter the bedroom, all screens are off. No phones, no social media, no distractions. They see their bedroom as their personal space to relax and connect. They prefer real conversations, cuddles, or even quiet time together instead of scrolling through their phones.
Rule 3: Giving each other space.
Bhavna and Sachin believe love does not mean being together every minute. When one of them says, “I need space,” the other respects it without guilt or questions. They believe giving space helps partners grow as individuals and makes the relationship stronger.
Rule 4: We don’t talk to others about our relationship.
This rule is about keeping their personal life private. The couple avoids discussing their relationship issues with parents, friends, or anyone else. They feel that when too many people give opinions, partners stop listening to each other. By keeping their conversations private, they solve problems directly and honestly.
Rule 5: Regular date nights.
Even after years of marriage, Bhavna and Sachin make time for romance. They plan two or three date nights every month. These dates are simple — sometimes dinner at home or coffee on the balcony — but they always use this time to talk and reconnect without phones or guests.
Their video about these rules went viral, and many people on social media praised their approach. One user commented, “Divorce rates would go down if couples acted this sensibly.” Another wrote, “These are such good reminders.” Some even said these rules are the “bare minimum” every couple should follow.
Bhavna and Sachin’s message is simple — there is no perfect formula for a successful marriage. Every couple is different, and what works for one may not work for another. But communication, respect, and kindness are always important.
