UAE to Boost High-Tech Investments, India Eyes Partnership

Dubai, September 19, 2025 — Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has underlined the growing opportunities for India to partner with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the Gulf nation steps up investments in high-technology sectors.

Speaking to the media at the conclusion of his two-day visit to the UAE, Mr. Goyal said the Emirates has emerged as a global hub that attracts businesses from Africa, the Middle East, and Central Europe. “India would like to leverage the hub that the UAE has successfully created,” he noted.

The minister’s visit included a series of high-level meetings with senior officials, industry leaders, and the Indian community. He was accompanied by a 75-member delegation of top Indian business leaders, reflecting New Delhi’s push to expand economic ties with Abu Dhabi.

India Tops Dubai’s FDI Chart

Mr. Goyal observed that India has already become the largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) into Dubai. While the UAE is among the top five or six nations investing in India, the minister expressed optimism that the inflows could grow much larger.

“Investors in the UAE are smart enough to recognise that India is an opportunity not to be missed,” he said, adding that both FDI and foreign institutional investments (FII) from the Gulf nation are expected to expand significantly in the coming years.

$100-Billion FDI Ambition

On resetting investment targets, the minister hinted that India is nudging the UAE toward a long-term FDI goal of $100 billion. He stressed that fresh capital inflows could drive growth in sectors ranging from banking and logistics to data centres and start-ups.

Bharat Mart for Small Businesses

Highlighting new initiatives, Mr. Goyal spoke about the upcoming Bharat Mart project, a platform designed to help small Indian businesses scale up into global exporters. “Already more than 9,000 companies have expressed interest in Bharat Mart,” he revealed.

Focus on Technology and Innovation

According to Mr. Goyal, UAE investors have shown deep interest in India’s high-tech industries, especially data centres and the broader technology ecosystem. Strong interest was also recorded in banking, logistics, and emerging start-ups.

Concluding his visit, the minister emphasized that India is ready to welcome “much larger pools of capital” from the UAE, which could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of bilateral trade and investment.
