The summit took place at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi. There were big companies like Meta, Google DeepMind, Oxford University, and Tsinghua University attending. Local organizations like Inception Institute and TII were also there. TII is known for creating the Falcon series of AI models.
At the summit, the experts discussed important topics like making AI safe for everyone, making sure it can be used by people everywhere, and how countries can work together. The event was important because it came after the Open-Source Initiative shared its definition of open-source AI.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, the CEO of TII, said, "This summit was an important step toward making sure AI is helpful and safe for everyone. We brought the best minds together to work on this."
Dr. Hakim Hacid, a researcher at TII, said, "At TII, we focus on creating AI systems that are clear and strong. This summit gave us a chance to talk with experts about how to make AI safe and work for everyone."
TII was one of the first to release the Falcon 40B AI model in May 2023. The Falcon models are some of the best open-source AI systems and are ranked high on HuggingFace, a popular website that tracks AI models.
This summit helped experts come up with ways to make sure AI is safe and works for everyone. It allowed people to share ideas and made sure AI can benefit everyone around the world.
