The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi), the first international campus of IIT Delhi, has unveiled its maiden Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programs. These programs are designed to equip undergraduate students with the skills necessary to address emerging challenges in key sectors such as energy and digitalization.

The first two BTech programs offered are Energy Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering. Energy Engineering aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of sustainability in energy production and management. On the other hand, Computer Science and Engineering focuses on AI, machine learning, and computational thinking, empowering students to develop innovative solutions for diverse industries.

Dr. Ahmed Sultan Alshoaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Higher Education Sector at the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), emphasized the importance of these programs in driving technological advancement and fostering a knowledge-based economy. He highlighted the commitment to equipping the future workforce with the skills needed to address complex challenges and contribute to a smarter, more resilient world.

The programs aim to prepare students for global leadership roles in cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, digitalization, and sustainable energy.

Registration for the academic year 2024-2025 is currently open until June 3, 2024, with both programs commencing in September 2024. These undergraduate programs follow the successful inauguration of the master's program in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) in January 2024.

The four-year BTech programs will be conducted at IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi, which boasts specialized research centers focusing on sustainable energy, climate studies, computing, and data sciences. The programs will be delivered by local experts and faculty seconded from IIT Delhi.

Upon graduation, students will join an extensive alumni network spanning 23 campuses across India. Notably, IIT Delhi recently ranked among the world's top 50 institutions for engineering and technology. The establishment of IIT Delhi - Abu Dhabi follows a partnership between the Ministry of Education, India, IIT Delhi, and ADEK, solidifying its commitment to academic excellence and global collaboration.
