IGCF 2024 Launches 29 Skill-Building Activities for Youth Communication Development

The International Government Communication Forum (IGCF) 2024 is set to empower the next generation of communicators with an extensive agenda aimed at youth and university students. Scheduled to take place on September 4-5 at Expo Centre Sharjah, this 13th edition promises a packed program featuring 29 dynamic activities designed to sharpen communication skills and enhance expertise.

Organized by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), the forum will host a variety of events including a Youth Hall, the Universities Challenge, AI Skills Camp, and specialized workshops and sessions. Registration for participation is available through the official website: www.igcc.ae.

Youth Hall: Enhancing Communication Skills

The Youth Hall will offer a series of seven sessions in collaboration with 'Deraya’ and the Arab Youth Center, focusing on developing professional public speaking skills. Topics will include the role of independent speakers in economic development, the significance of linguistics in resilient government communication, and the impact of AI on communication skills. This initiative aims to equip young individuals with essential skills for effective public speaking and communication.

AI Skills Camp: Pioneering AI Education

The AI Skills Camp (AISC), a pioneering initiative in the UAE, will take place from September 3-4. In partnership with the Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF), the camp is designed to teach students fundamental AI skills and their practical applications. Participants will learn how to integrate AI into content creation, including animated films, motion graphics, and mobile applications. They will also have the opportunity to present their projects to the Sharjah Government Communication Award (SGCA) jury.

Universities Challenge: Showcasing Innovative Content

The Universities Challenge, running from September 3-5 and in partnership with the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), invites students to present innovative ideas in content creation. This challenge emphasizes the importance of creative solutions in addressing contemporary issues and showcases the role of content creation in strategic goals and business development. The initiative aims to foster collaboration between universities and enhance students' innovation and creativity skills.

COMMS Program: Workshops on Professional Development

From August 26-29, the COMMS program will offer seven workshops covering professional ethics, communication practices, and modern technologies. Topics include advanced technologies such as AI and the Metaverse, podcast production for government platforms, and the importance of data in government communication. These workshops are designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed for effective government communication and to keep pace with technological advancements.

Youth-Focused Sessions and New Platforms

The forum will also feature a series of youth-focused sessions, including discussions on new generation content creation and the perception of youth openness to cultures. The Arab Parliament for the Child will participate in a panel discussion on establishing innovative communication platforms for children, emphasizing the importance of platforms that empower young voices.

Additionally, IGCF 2024 introduces the "Kids Content Creation" platform, dedicated to exploring challenges and opportunities in creating engaging and safe content for young audiences.
