Emergency services launched an extensive search operation for the remaining two missing persons on Sunday. The search continued into Monday despite challenging conditions, including diminishing daylight and difficult terrain. Authorities temporarily halted the search efforts on Sunday evening due to safety concerns.

The Breidamerkurjokull glacier, located near the popular Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon, is a well-frequented tourist destination. Rescue operations have seen a significant deployment of personnel, underscoring the seriousness of the situation. The authorities are committed to continuing the search as conditions allow, with efforts focused on locating the missing individuals.
