In a statement, the Texas A&M Forest Service provided updates on the situation, indicating, “The Hudson Fire in Bastrop County is an estimated 400 acres and 10% contained. Fire activity continues to be active with tree torching. Crews are working to secure the right flank of the fire.” This highlights the ongoing challenges faced by firefighting crews as they contend with active fire behavior, which has included instances of trees igniting and rapid growth of the fire front.
As the situation escalated, evacuations were ordered for residents in several specific areas: from the 400 block of Gotier Trace Road to Alum Creek, along SH 71 at Alum Creek north to Gotier Trace Road, and Park Road 1C between Alum Creek and Cottletown. The community is being urged to comply with evacuation orders to ensure their safety as firefighters work diligently to manage the inferno.
Initially, the containment of the fire was reported as zero until it reached 200 acres. As the fire expanded to 250 acres, containment efforts had improved slightly to 5%. The fire service has deployed both aerial and ground resources to combat the blaze, with aircraft including super scoopers enlisted to assist in slowing the fire's advance.
Fortunately, as of now, no fatalities or injuries have been reported due to the fire. However, authorities are urging the public to avoid the affected areas to facilitate firefighting efforts and ensure community safety. The situation remains dynamic, and updates are expected as firefighters continue their efforts to contain the Hudson Fire.
