Honey Rose vs Boby Chemmanur: Gold businessman held in harassment case

Kerala businessman Boby Chemmanur was arrested by Kochi police on Wednesday following a sexual harassment complaint filed by Malayalam actress Honey Rose. The police took him into custody for questioning at his estate in Wayanad, Kerala. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been assigned to investigate the matter thoroughly.

Honey Rose filed her complaint with the Ernakulam Central Police on January 7, accusing Boby Chemmanur of making inappropriate gestures and sexually suggestive remarks towards her during the opening of his jewellery store in Kannur. The actress also claimed that she faced online harassment, with around 30 people flooding her social media accounts with sexist comments.

Chemmanur, who is known for his bold public image, has denied the accusations and stated that he had no "ill intentions" during the incident.
Honey Rose later took to social media to reveal the details of the event, which occurred in August last year. She said that she was invited to inaugurate Chemmanur's jewellery showroom in Kannur, but what was supposed to be a professional engagement turned out uncomfortable. At the time, she chose not to speak out as she did not want to spoil the event. However, she explained that the incident had deeply disturbed her family.

In her social media post, Honey Rose shared that after four months, she could no longer stay silent. She accused Chemmanur of acting inappropriately towards her. She expressed confidence in the legal system and declared that she would take action against anyone who insulted her based on her appearance or clothing.
"I don’t have any problem with creative criticism or jokes about my appearance, but there should be limits. I will fight against anyone who makes sexual comments toward me, using all the protection that the law provides for women," she wrote.

After her posts, the Kerala film body, the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), spoke out in support of Honey Rose. They condemned the social media attacks against her and assured her that they would stand by her during this difficult time.

Initially, Honey Rose did not mention Boby Chemmanur's name directly in her accusations but spoke about the humiliating sexual comments she endured. However, she later clarified the details and identified Chemmanur as the person responsible for the behavior.
