In response, the Israeli military announced it had deployed additional ground troops to southern Lebanon. Additionally, they confirmed the death of a senior Hezbollah commander in an airstrike, underscoring the intensity of the military operations taking place.
The barrage included dozens of rockets aimed as far south as Haifa, prompting the Israeli government to issue warnings to residents in the northern regions, advising them to limit their activities. This advisory led to the closure of several schools in the affected areas, reflecting the growing concerns for public safety amidst the escalating violence.
According to the Israeli military, Hezbollah has launched approximately 180 rockets across the border during this latest wave of attacks.
Sheikh Naim Kassem, Hezbollah's acting leader, claimed that the group's military capabilities remain intact despite enduring weeks of heavy Israeli airstrikes across various parts of Lebanon. He also pointed out that numerous attacks had resulted in the deaths of top Hezbollah commanders within a matter of days.
Kassem further asserted that Israeli forces have been unable to achieve significant advancements since they began their ground incursion into Lebanon last week, indicating a stalemate in the conflict. His statements reflect Hezbollah's resilience and determination to continue its operations despite the ongoing military pressure from Israel.
