Heavy Rains to Continue in Saudi Arabia Until Monday

Heavy Rains to Continue in Saudi Arabia Until Monday

Post by : Layla Badr

Saudi Arabia's Civil Defence has asked people to be careful and stay safe, as the weather department says that rain will continue in most parts of the country until Monday.

The General Directorate of Civil Defence advised everyone to avoid going to dangerous places like valleys (called "wadis") and areas already affected by floods. They also warned people not to swim in these areas, as it could be very risky.

In the Mecca region, weather experts expect moderate to heavy rain. This rain could cause flash floods, strong winds with dust, and hailstorms. Riyadh is also likely to receive heavy rain, which may lead to flooding and hail as well.

Other regions that may get moderate to heavy rain include Tabuk, Medina, Al Jawf, the Northern Borders, Ha’il, Al Qassim, Al Baha, and Asir. The southern areas of Jazan and Najran might also see light to moderate rainfall.

April is known to be the rainiest month in Saudi Arabia. A weather expert from the Saudi National Centre for Meteorology, Aqeel Al Aqeel, said that some areas usually get more rain than others during this month. These include Asir and Al Baha in the southwest, and Mecca and Taif in the west. These places are expected to receive more rain compared to other parts of the country.

People across Saudi Arabia are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and follow safety rules to avoid danger during this rainy period.
