It’s been nearly 30 years since Happy Gilmore first made audiences laugh with his wild golfing style and temper issues. Now in 2025, Adam Sandler is back as the beloved Happy Gilmore in Happy Gilmore 2, a brand-new sequel streaming on Netflix. The film has not only brought back fans of the original movie but also introduced a whole new generation to the hilarious world of Happy.
Filmed mostly in New Jersey, the movie is filled with celebrity cameos, comic moments, and even emotional scenes. The story follows Happy as he returns to the golf world—but this time, not to chase trophies. Instead, he’s playing golf again to raise money for something dear to his heart—his daughter’s ballet lessons.
And just when you think the movie is over, there's more to enjoy. Happy Gilmore 2 includes a mid-credits scene that gives fans an update on a character named Frank Manatee and adds a funny, surprising twist.

Let’s explore everything that happens in this much-awaited comedy sequel—from the main plot to the hilarious mid-credits bonus.
Happy Gilmore Is Back With a Heartwarming Reason
In Happy Gilmore 2, Happy isn’t the same young hothead he once was. He’s older now and more focused on being a good dad. When he finds out that his daughter wants to take ballet classes but the fees are too high, he decides to do what he does best—pick up a golf club and play.
However, the golf world has changed. There’s a new league called the “Maxi Golf League,” run by a man named Frank Manatee, played by actor Benny Safdie. This league is flashy, full of media attention, and not exactly what Happy is used to. But with his unique playing style, humor, and heart, he quickly becomes the center of attention once again.
The movie is packed with exciting golf matches, hilarious challenges, and touching moments between Happy and his daughter. It also includes a bunch of celebrity cameos—such as rapper Eminem, golf influencer Paige Spiranac, and NFL star Travis Kelce—all of whom add to the fun.
Filming Locations and Nostalgic Vibes
The movie was mainly shot in New Jersey, and fans of the original film will be happy to notice several familiar settings, such as golf courses and quirky training spots. The nostalgic music and dialogue bring back memories of the original movie, while the new plot keeps it fresh and funny.
Adam Sandler delivers his performance with the same lovable energy as before, making it feel like Happy Gilmore never left.
Spoiler Alert: The Mid-Credit Scene That Got Everyone Talking
After the final scene, the movie treats fans with an extra surprise in the form of a mid-credits scene. This scene gives viewers an update on Frank Manatee, the founder of the Maxi Golf League, and the troubles he's facing.
It begins with a fake news broadcast called “Sports Hole With Pat Daniels.” The host, played by Dan Patrick, delivers the update with a straight face, even though the content is quite funny. He says, “Bad news just keeps coming” for Manatee and his league.
The audience learns that the Maxi Golf League has failed spectacularly. To make things worse, the sports drink Manatee launched—called “Maxi Sports Drink”—has been recalled. Why? Because it caused serious side effects like irreversible bad breath, gum disease, and even a new illness called tongue rot.
The news segment even shows a shocking image of Manatee with a glowing green tongue. Daniels humorously adds, “Yeah, I would run too if I gave half the world midnight booty breath.”
Scottie Scheffler’s Unexpected Cameo
But that’s not the end! The scene then cuts to another surprising moment. It shows professional golfer Scottie Scheffler, who is now behind bars. Why? Earlier in the movie, Scheffler had punched a heckler during a Maxi Golf tournament and got arrested.
In the mid-credits scene, Scheffler is seen sitting in jail, looking relaxed and calm. A prison guard approaches and tells him that although he’s been in jail for three days, he hasn’t used his legal right to make a phone call. The guard suggests he should call someone to help him get out.
Scheffler’s answer is funny and unexpected. He simply asks, “What’s for dinner?” When the guard replies that chicken fingers are on the menu, Scheffler shrugs and says he’ll stay one more night. This moment brings a final dose of humor to the movie and leaves fans laughing even after the credits roll.
Interestingly, this joke connects to real-life events. In May 2024, Scottie Scheffler was actually arrested during the PGA Championships in a real-life incident involving traffic police. The movie pokes fun at that situation in a light-hearted way.
More Laughs, More Stars, More Fun
The film also features scenes with other big names in sports and entertainment. Eminem makes a brief but funny appearance, while Paige Spiranac plays a version of herself as a golf influencer. NFL star Travis Kelce also joins the cast in a comic moment that fans loved.
Each cameo adds something special to the movie without stealing the spotlight from Happy Gilmore himself. These appearances keep viewers guessing and entertained throughout.
What Makes This Sequel Special?
Unlike many sequels that try to copy the original movie, Happy Gilmore 2 brings new emotions, fresh jokes, and a deeper storyline. At its heart, it’s about family, following your dreams, and finding joy in unexpected places.
The film also balances humor and heart well. Happy’s efforts to support his daughter’s passion for ballet show a different side of the character. It’s still full of wild golf tricks and loud laughs, but there’s also a touching story behind all the comedy.
A Worthy Sequel That Delivers
Happy Gilmore 2 is more than just a comeback. It’s a celebration of what made the original so beloved and a smart, fun update for today’s audience. With strong performances, unexpected twists, and a hilarious mid-credits scene, this movie is a must-watch for fans of Adam Sandler and comedy lovers in general.
Whether you’re watching for the laughs, the nostalgia, or the exciting cameos, Happy Gilmore 2 has something for everyone. And don’t forget to stick around after the movie ends—the mid-credits scene is worth every second.
