The recently opened Hanging Gardens in Kalba, UAE, has become a prominent attraction, covering an expansive 1.6 million square feet with over 100,000 trees. Elevated at 281 meters above sea level, the garden was inaugurated on March 8 by Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
During the inauguration, Dr Sheikh Sultan explored various sections of the garden, marveling at its aesthetic elements, including lush green spaces, flower-adorned terraces, and cascading waterfalls. The event also featured a musical performance by school students expressing their appreciation.
Residents of Kalba expressed gratitude to Dr Sheikh Sultan for his support of developmental projects in the area. The Ruler of Sharjah toured the central restaurant, designed with a classic semi-circular architectural style, accommodating up to 215 people, offering picturesque views of the gardens and waterfalls.
The Hanging Gardens project caters to visitors of all ages, with designated recreational areas for children featuring three sections based on age groups. Dr Sheikh Sultan meticulously inspected mountain climbing routes, showcasing varying difficulty levels, agricultural terraces, waterfalls, and vibrant flora along the way.
Professional skaters showcased their skills in a dedicated arena covering 24,000 square feet, featuring three levels catering to children, beginners, and professionals.
The Hanging Gardens also boasts an excursion train with a capacity for 55 people and a track length of 820 meters, passing through four stations. The stations are strategically located, providing waiting areas for visitors to explore different parts of the garden, including recreational and service features. Additionally, a 760-meter running track encircles the landmarks within the park.
Moving to the upper area of the Hanging Gardens, Dr Sheikh Sultan visited a restaurant building constructed using traditional wooden architecture, providing a panoramic view 270 meters above sea level. The restaurant accommodates 100 guests, enhancing the overall experience of the visitors.
The project addresses practical needs, including 262 parking spaces, facilities for disabled parking, and electric vehicle charging stations. Essential amenities such as restrooms, prayer rooms for both genders, and a cafeteria offering light meals contribute to the convenience of the visitors.
The Hanging Gardens project aligns with a comprehensive development strategy for Kalba, aiming to enhance the economic, tourism, and cultural landscape of the city. Positioned as a premier tourist and recreational destination, it offers opportunities for leisure, sports, and appreciation of the natural surroundings. The project is anticipated to stimulate tourism and economic activities, adding significant value to other ongoing projects in the city.
