Dubai, UAE – His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, honoured the winners of the Global Prompt Engineering Championship 2025 during Dubai AI Week. The event took place at Emirates Towers and brought together some of the world’s brightest minds in AI and creativity.
This year’s competition gave away a total prize of AED 1 million, shared by four champions. The winners competed in four main categories: Art, Video, Gaming, and Coding.
A Celebration of AI Talent
Sheikh Hamdan said that AI is creating brand-new types of jobs and skills. One of the most important is prompt engineering—the skill of giving clear, smart instructions to AI tools to get great results. He added that Dubai has always been one of the first cities to invest in AI. Now, it’s becoming a top place in the world for AI experts and talents.

“Helping people learn and grow in AI will help everyone,” Sheikh Hamdan said. “We want to give people the tools and support they need to use AI in a way that helps the world.”
He also said the mix of art, thinking, and AI in this contest shows the kind of future Dubai wants to lead—one where technology and creativity go hand in hand.
Winners from Around the World
Over 3,800 people from 125 countries joined the contest, and only 24 finalists from 16 countries were selected to take part in the live finals held in Dubai. These talented individuals had to show their skills using AI in creative ways under pressure and with limited time.
Here are the winners from each category:
Coding: Abdulrahman Al Marzooqi from the UAE. He’s studying machine learning at MBZUAI (Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence).
Video: Ibrahim Hajjo from Syria. He’s a senior filmmaker at Hajjo Media.
Gaming: Ibrahim Helmy from Canada. He works as a cloud solutions architect for Microsoft, focusing on Data & AI.
Art: Yahya Kaddoura from Palestine. He’s an architectural designer and Associate Principal at Atkins.
What Did the Finalists Have to Do?
Each category had a special challenge:
Art: Make two images of the same place or object in different time periods. The images had to feel connected but clearly show a time change.
Video: Create a short 15–20 second video like a wildlife documentary, but with a twist—show an animal in a strange yet realistic place.
Gaming: Build a game called “One Minute Hero” where the player has only 60 seconds to save the world. Each game attempt changes slightly depending on past actions.
Coding: Design an app that helps during emergencies in Dubai, like if someone is hurt or loses important documents. The app should give calm and accurate help using AI.
Who Judged the Contest?
A group of experts from different fields judged the championship. The panel included artists, AI leaders, game developers, and filmmakers. They came from companies like Microsoft, Google, Dubai Police, and others. Some well-known names were:
