Hamdan bin Mohammed Meets Italy's Defence Minister in Abu Dhabi

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE had an important meeting in Abu Dhabi today. He met with His Excellency Guido Crosetto, Italy’s Minister of Defence. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, the UAE's Minister of State for Defence Affairs, along with several senior officials from both countries.

Sheikh Hamdan warmly welcomed Minister Crosetto and spoke about the strong and long-standing relationship between the UAE and Italy. He said this visit shows the spirit of partnership and friendship between the two countries. Sheikh Hamdan also pointed out that such cooperation creates new opportunities to strengthen ties at many levels.

During their discussions, both sides focused on improving the relationship between the UAE and Italy, especially in the defence sector. They talked about increasing collaboration and building partnerships that could benefit defense-related industries. They also stressed the importance of sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practices to develop new technologies for defence. Both agreed that such efforts would help strengthen their military forces and prepare them for the future. Later, Sheikh Hamdan and Minister Crosetto visited the Italian naval training ship, the Amerigo Vespucci, which was docked at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi. This ship is special because it is one of the few remaining sailing ships still in active service. The visit to Abu Dhabi was the first time the Amerigo Vespucci had come to the UAE in its 93-year history. The ship is on a global tour and is well-known as a symbol of Italy’s maritime heritage.

During the tour of the ship, Sheikh Hamdan and Minister Crosetto learned about its missions. The Amerigo Vespucci is used for maritime diplomacy and to promote the protection of the marine environment. At the end of their visit, Sheikh Hamdan wrote a message in the ship’s VIP guestbook. In his message, he praised the ship for its important role in preserving maritime traditions and representing the Italian Navy.

This meeting and visit showed the strong bond between the UAE and Italy and highlighted their commitment to working together for peace, stability, and progress.
