Leaders of the Shura, representative, national, and Ummah councils of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries gathered in Manama, Bahrain, for their 19th periodic meeting. During this gathering, the leaders highlighted several important regional and international developments. A major part of their discussions focused on the strong diplomatic and humanitarian efforts led by Saudi Arabia in recent months. A Saudi delegation led by Shura Council Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh represented the Kingdom at the event.
The leaders expressed strong appreciation for the results of the Gulf-U.S. Summit hosted by Saudi Arabia in May. They explained that the summit helped strengthen cooperation between the Gulf countries and the United States. According to the leaders, the discussions held during the summit helped build a more secure and stable region. They also acknowledged the Kingdom’s continuous role in supporting dialogue, security, and economic cooperation between Gulf nations and global partners.
A significant part of the leaders’ statement focused on Saudi Arabia’s recent diplomatic efforts to support the Palestinian cause. They praised the Kingdom for co-chairing the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. This important conference was held in New York City in September. The leaders described the conference as a historic moment because it brought world attention back to achieving lasting peace through the two-state solution. They stressed that the event reaffirmed international commitment to justice for the Palestinian people.
The GCC legislative leaders also commended the work of the ministerial committee chaired by Saudi Arabia. This committee was formed during the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit to help stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. They noted that the committee has played a major role in calling for an end to violence, protecting civilians, and supporting early steps toward the reconstruction of Gaza. The leaders praised the Kingdom for leading these humanitarian and diplomatic efforts with responsibility and determination.
In addition to praising Saudi Arabia, the leaders recognized the efforts of the Arab ministerial committee led by Bahrain. This committee focuses on supporting the State of Palestine in gaining more international recognition. The GCC leaders emphasized that the committee’s work must continue, especially through active engagement with global organisations and governments. They said that continued international support is essential for building a fair and lasting solution for Palestine.
Toward the end of their statement, the GCC leaders congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Saudi people. They celebrated Saudi Arabia’s successful bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, calling it a major achievement for the Kingdom and the entire Gulf region. The leaders noted that this global event will strengthen the region’s sports sector, tourism industry, and international standing.
In their closing remarks, the leaders of the GCC legislative bodies emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among Gulf countries. They reaffirmed their support for Saudi Arabia’s leadership in regional peace, humanitarian initiatives, and global engagement. The meeting ended with a shared commitment to stability, development, and unity across the Gulf region. The leaders agreed that the positive results achieved in recent months should inspire further collective action in the years ahead.
