Protests at U.S. universities continued over the weekend, with more arrests and a clash between pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian demonstrators at California's UCLA. The clash occurred as tensions escalated between the two groups, resulting in shoving, shouting, and some physical altercations.

Demonstrators opposing Israel's actions in Gaza are calling for a ceasefire and divestment from companies linked to the Israeli military. The protests have expanded at UCLA, drawing vocal counter-protesters. The situation turned confrontational when the two groups clashed.

Security personnel attempted to intervene, and campus police monitored the situation. Both groups had been permitted to express their views on campus.

Following the clash, additional police were deployed, but no arrests were reported. Similar protests have emerged at various universities across the U.S., triggered by events like the mass arrest of over 100 people at Columbia University.

Administrators have criticized the protests, citing disruptions to campus life and accusations of harassment and antisemitism. The nationwide demonstrations have garnered attention from President Joe Biden, who emphasized the right to peaceful protest while condemning antisemitism.

At USC, the cancellation of the main commencement ceremony amid tensions drew attention, with the decision attributed to concerns over safety. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass supported USC's decision, citing safety considerations.
