G42, NVIDIA partner to launch AI-powered weather forecasting system

G42 and NVIDIA have joined hands to create a smart weather forecasting system using artificial intelligence. This system is built on their earlier work, which led to the Earth-2 Climate Tech Lab in Abu Dhabi. The new model uses advanced technology to give faster and more accurate weather predictions at a lower cost. It can also predict extreme weather by learning how the local weather behaves, making it highly useful for the region.

As part of this project, Inception, a G42 company, has improved a tool called CorrDiff from NVIDIA’s Earth-2 platform. This upgraded system can create very detailed weather reports with a resolution of 200 meters. It will give highly accurate forecasts for Abu Dhabi and other city areas. This detailed weather information will help governments, businesses, and people prepare better for storms, fog, and other extreme weather events by giving them early warnings.

G42’s digital company, Core42, will host this platform. Core42 will provide powerful computers and quick processing using NVIDIA hardware to run the system smoothly.

G42 recently tested the system by simulating fog movement across the UAE. The simulation showed how fog spread across the country from morning to evening in a single day. This proved how the system could display real and clear fog forecasts with great accuracy.

The AI-powered system will be helpful for many fields, such as transportation, logistics, public safety, insurance, renewable energy, and utilities. With better fog forecasts, transportation companies can avoid delays, and public safety officials can give early warnings. Compared to older methods, G42’s system is quicker and cheaper, making it more useful.

This technology is a big step toward better weather science. It also shows G42’s goal of creating tools that fight climate problems. By making weather forecasts faster and more detailed, the system will support wider efforts for safety and sustainability in the region.

Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director General of the National Center of Meteorology UAE, praised this innovation. He said AI-based weather forecasts can improve disaster management and help countries become stronger against climate challenges. He added that real-time, local forecasts will help make smarter decisions and protect people from weather risks. Dr. Al Mandous also shared that the UAE’s Meteorology Center is quickly adopting AI technology to lead in advanced weather forecasting.

Andrew Jackson, CEO of Inception, said this technology will be useful worldwide. He explained that by working with NVIDIA, they are making powerful weather tools available to more countries. Jackson highlighted that the system can learn local weather patterns, making it helpful not only in the UAE but also in other areas facing unpredictable weather. He said the system’s precise forecasts will help people act faster, make better plans, and strengthen their systems.

Jackson also mentioned that this technology can benefit other fields like aviation, city transport, energy management, and environmental planning. He said it could help reduce flight delays, make roads safer, and manage power grids better. It can also help cities prepare for weather changes.

Dion Harris, Senior Director at NVIDIA, said that local weather forecasting is becoming more important as climate patterns change. He added that AI is making weather predictions faster, clearer, and more detailed. Harris also said that with NVIDIA’s high-speed computing, large amounts of weather data can be processed quickly. This will help governments and industries prepare better for extreme weather.

This new weather system comes at a time when the world needs better solutions to face climate changes. As extreme weather becomes more common, AI-based forecasts will help protect people, save infrastructure, and strengthen economies.

G42 now plans to expand this technology beyond the UAE, focusing on regions like Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. In these areas, accurate weather forecasts can play a key role in disaster preparedness, saving lives, and protecting infrastructure.
