On Monday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Sarasota, Florida, when a mother accidentally struck her 12-year-old daughter with her SUV during a school drop-off, resulting in critical injuries. The incident took place around 7:45 a.m. near a middle school, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Sarasota County School District.
The accident happened on the first day of the new school year. The mother had just dropped her daughter off near the school and was preparing to leave. As the girl was exiting the vehicle on the passenger side, she accidentally dropped her markers and pens. When she bent down to retrieve her school supplies from under the car, her mother, unaware of her daughter’s position, began to drive forward. The SUV’s wheels struck the girl, causing severe injuries.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, and the young girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Authorities have described her condition as critical, though her status on Tuesday remains uncertain.

"The school district encourages all families to follow district and school safety protocols and use the designated student pickup and drop-off areas on school campuses," the statement emphasized.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the community is coming together to support the family during this challenging time.
