Wimbledon saw an emotional and memorable day as both young tennis stars and proud mothers made headlines on Centre Court. Mirra Andreeva and Belinda Bencic won their matches, securing their places in the quarter-finals. For both players, it was a special day full of dreams, achievements, and love from their supporters.
Mirra Andreeva’s Dream Comes True
Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva played on Centre Court for the first time in her life. The 18-year-old, who is already famous as the youngest champion in Dubai, faced American player Emma Navarro. Navarro was seeded 10th in the tournament and had earlier defeated defending champion Barbora Krejcikova. Many people expected Navarro to win, but Andreeva played confidently and strongly.

Andreeva won the match with scores of 6-2, 6-3. This win took her to her first-ever Wimbledon quarter-final. After the match, she gave an emotional interview and shared how she felt seeing one of her idols, Roger Federer, in the crowd.
Seeing Roger Federer Made Her Nervous
Andreeva said, “Honestly, it’s something crazy. I was super nervous before playing on Centre Court for the first time.” She added that during the match, she did not want to look at the crowd because she wanted to stay focused. However, she looked up when the score was 4-1, and she saw someone she had always dreamed of seeing – Roger Federer and his wife Mirka.
“When I saw Roger and Mirka, I knew I would completely lose focus — and I did!” she laughed. “It means a lot to me that you came and watched my match. It’s been one of my dreams to see you in real life.”
Andreeva also complimented Mirka Federer by saying, “You look very pretty. I really like your outfit.” This sweet comment showed her respect and love for her tennis idol and his wife.
Her Journey So Far
Mirra Andreeva has had a wonderful year so far. She won the Dubai Open earlier this year, becoming the youngest champion of the tournament. Now, reaching her first Wimbledon quarter-final has given her even more confidence. Andreeva has already set her goal to reach the world’s top five by the end of this year. Her fans believe she can achieve it with her dedication and performance.
She will next play against Belinda Bencic in the quarter-finals, which will be an exciting match to watch.
Belinda Bencic’s Emotional Win with Daughter Watching
On the same day, Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic also secured her place in the quarter-finals. The 28-year-old Olympic gold medallist from Switzerland defeated Russia’s Ekaterina Alexandrova. The match scores were 7-6 (7/4), 6-4. This victory was very special for Bencic because it was her first Wimbledon quarter-final and her first Grand Slam quarter-final since 2021.
Her Biggest Cheerleader: Daughter Bella
What made this victory even more emotional was that Bencic’s 15-month-old daughter, Bella, was there to support her. Bella travelled with her to the All England Club and watched her mother play from the stands. Bencic shared her feelings after the match, saying:
“Honestly, it’s been really amazing. I’m really proud of myself and the whole team. I think we did an amazing job coming back. I’m really enjoying it at the moment.”
She also added that travelling with Bella is still easy, but she knows it might become difficult in the future as her daughter grows older. However, she loves to share these moments and create beautiful memories as a family.
Balancing Motherhood and Tennis
Bencic shared that being a mother has changed her outlook on life and tennis. She said, “I feel like I’m taking so many more pictures and just really enjoying it more. I’m juggling it like every mum does. So, props to the mums!”
Her words showed her respect for all mothers who manage their careers and children together. Bencic has inspired many women around the world by showing that motherhood and professional sports can go hand in hand with love, planning, and dedication.
Two Different Journeys, One Big Day
This day at Wimbledon showed two beautiful stories. One was about an 18-year-old girl playing on Centre Court for the first time and seeing her idol. The other was about a 28-year-old mother who balanced her baby and her tennis career and reached the quarter-finals.
Mirra Andreeva and Belinda Bencic will now face each other in the upcoming quarter-final match. Fans are excited to see who will win. No matter what the result is, both players have already won hearts with their performances, emotions, and dreams.
Why This Day Was Special
Mirra Andreeva reached her first Wimbledon quarter-final at only 18 years old.
Roger Federer, her idol, watched her play live for the first time.
Belinda Bencic reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final since 2021.
Bencic’s daughter Bella cheered for her mother from the stands.
Both matches showed the power of dreams, hard work, and family support.
Mirra Andreeva will now aim to continue her dream run at Wimbledon by defeating Bencic in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Bencic will hope to win for her daughter and reach the semi-finals. Both players are ready to give their best on the court, and fans will be waiting to see another emotional and thrilling match.
