The death toll in Balochistan has tragically risen to six, with 25 individuals injured across the province due to persistent rainfall, according to a report by Geo News on Sunday. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) official confirmed that the N-70 highway, crucially linking Balochistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been closed to traffic. The heavy rains, particularly in the Koh-e-Suleman mountain range spanning Zhob and Sherani districts in eastern Balochistan, triggered landslides, leaving several vehicles stranded at Dhana Sar.
In response to the blockage of the Zhob-DI Khan Road at Dhana Sar, traffic advisories have been issued, redirecting travelers from Peshawar, Swat, Islamabad, and Pindi to halt at Dera Ismail Khan. Local administrations in Zhob and Qilla Saifullah have been instructed to manage and restrict traffic flow in the affected areas. The PDMA has mobilized rescue and relief teams to aid stranded travelers, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted further rain across multiple regions, including Islamabad, Murree, Gilgit, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Balakot, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Swat. Additionally, heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan's Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela districts.
Earlier meteorological reports indicated the ingress of moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal into southern and eastern Pakistan, contributing to thundershowers and gusty winds in Sindh and other provinces. This weather pattern has led to repeated instances of heavy rains causing casualties and landslides in Balochistan. Just in April this year, the provincial government had declared a state of emergency due to prolonged heavy rains, which had similarly resulted in loss of life and extensive damage across various districts of Balochistan.
