The Family Care Authority (FCA) has launched the Community Awareness Ambassadors Initiative as part of its ongoing One Family community outreach program. This new initiative is designed to raise awareness about important social and family-related issues by selecting and training a group of university students to serve as ambassadors in their communities. The FCA aims to empower these students, particularly the youth, to take active roles in addressing critical social challenges.

The primary goal of the Community Awareness Ambassadors Initiative is to strengthen efforts in preventing violence by equipping these young ambassadors with the tools to mediate conflict, raise awareness about various social issues, and establish vital communication channels within their communities. The initiative will kick off at Zayed University and Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) and is one of many outreach programs led by the Family Care Authority to create an inclusive, impact-driven community. These efforts are aligned with the larger goal of creating lasting social change and fostering a united, resilient society.

The initiative will run as a one-academic-year training program that covers a variety of crucial topics related to family and societal well-being. Subjects such as child abuse, domestic violence, mental health, and human trafficking will be central to the curriculum. Students selected for the program will gain a deeper understanding of these issues and will be trained to spread knowledge and educate their peers and community members. The FCA intends for this program to deepen students' understanding of how violence impacts individuals and communities and to help them become more engaged in educational campaigns that promote prevention.

Her Excellency Salama Al Ameemi, the Director General of the Family Care Authority, emphasized the importance of this initiative in achieving the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy. She explained that the initiative is a significant step in enhancing the educational and empowerment skills of university students. "By involving youth in community outreach programs like this, we are giving them the opportunity to be active contributors in the social sector. Through this initiative, we aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of violence, promote greater reporting of violence cases, and ensure that individuals receive the support and guidance they need from the services provided by the FCA and its partners."

She also added that the One Family initiative is crucial in developing a deeper understanding of the Family Care Authority's services and the issues surrounding family violence and human trafficking, particularly among young people. "Youth are the emerging leaders of tomorrow. By empowering them to take on leadership roles in such initiatives, we can help develop their interpersonal skills, including self-confidence and effective communication, while also encouraging them to contribute to the well-being of Abu Dhabi’s society. These young people will shape the values and behaviors of future generations, making a lasting impact on the community," she said.

The Family Care Authority strongly believes that prevention is better than cure and is dedicated to reducing the risks associated with violence and human trafficking. Through this initiative, they aim to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent these issues before they escalate. By fostering awareness and prevention among young people, the FCA hopes to create a generation that values understanding, stable family dynamics, and a strong sense of community. Ultimately, this will contribute to building a more stable and unified society.

Students who participate in the Community Awareness Ambassadors Initiative will be able to earn accredited volunteer hours. In addition, they will receive a certificate of appreciation for their work as FCA ambassadors, further incentivizing them to engage in meaningful community service. Through these efforts, the Family Care Authority aims to establish an engaged, informed, and proactive community that works together to build a safer, more resilient Abu Dhabi.
