Baltasar Ebang Engonga, a high-ranking official from Equatorial Guinea, has been dismissed from his position following the circulation of hundreds of explicit videos of him with various women. These videos, which have gone viral on social media, show Engonga, who is married and in his 50s, engaging in intimate activities with multiple partners. Among these women are reportedly the wives of prominent officials, and the encounters are said to have occurred in various locations, including his office at the Ministry of Finance.

It is reported that approximately 400 explicit tapes featuring Engonga have been leaked, with the recordings made at unspecified times. The leaked content has caused an uproar, prompting the Equatorial Guinea authorities to take action. The telecommunications ministry, along with regulators and telecom companies, has been urged to take steps to prevent the further spread of these pornographic videos on social media platforms.

#BaltasarEbangEngonga has become a trending topic on various online platforms, as the scandal continues to dominate discussions.

Who Is Baltasar Ebang Engonga?

Baltasar Ebang Engonga is the director of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), an agency tasked with investigating financial crimes such as money laundering. He is widely known by the nickname "Bello" due to his perceived good looks. Engonga is the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the chairman of the Commission of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community, and is also reportedly connected to the country's long-serving president.

However, Engonga’s career has taken a dramatic turn. Earlier in October, he was arrested on charges of embezzling significant amounts of money from state funds, which he allegedly deposited in secret accounts in the Cayman Islands. Following his arrest on October 25, he was taken to the notorious Black Beach prison in the capital, Malabo. His phones and computers were seized by the authorities, and shortly after, the explicit videos began circulating online.

Authorities have indicated that if medical tests show that Engonga has contracted a sexually transmitted disease, he could face charges related to public health violations. Chief prosecutor Anatolio Nzang Nguema confirmed that these tests would be critical in determining any additional legal action against Engonga.

This scandal has not only caused a massive public outcry but also raises significant questions regarding the personal conduct of high-ranking officials in Equatorial Guinea. The country, already grappling with allegations of corruption, now faces increased scrutiny due to the actions of one of its senior officials.
