ENN LNG Signs Largest UAE-China LNG Deal with Adnoc

China’s ENN LNG, which is part of a larger company called ENN Natural Gas, has signed a huge gas deal with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The agreement is with Adnoc, the UAE's government-owned oil and gas company.

According to the deal, Adnoc will sell around one million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) every year to ENN LNG. This will continue for 15 years. Most of this gas will come from Adnoc’s new Ruwais LNG project.

This deal became official after both companies first agreed in December 2023 to work together.

Gas deliveries under this deal are planned to start in 2028, which is when the Ruwais LNG plant is expected to begin producing gas.

The Ruwais LNG project is special because it will be the first gas export plant in the Middle East and Africa to run on clean electricity. This means it will produce gas in a way that is better for the environment and creates fewer carbon emissions.

Once the project is ready, it will have two gas production units. These will be able to make a total of 9.6 million tonnes of LNG every year. This will double the total gas production of Adnoc Gas to about 15 million tonnes per year.
