In anticipation of the arrival of its highly awaited Airbus A350s, Emirates has committed approximately $48 million towards cutting-edge training equipment and systems for both pilots and cabin crew. This investment underscores the airline's dedication to achieving excellence in crew training.
The new training suite comprises three full-flight simulators equipped with innovative pilot support systems (PSS), a fixed base training device, a cabin emergency evacuation trainer, and a door trainer. The PSS, a pioneering industry development conceptualized in-house by Emirates, optimizes the training experience by allowing trainees to engage in an interactive flight deck setup during the briefing phase. This setup includes constructing a flight plan within a fully immersive environment. Once inside the simulator, trainees can seamlessly resume their training, while the debrief mode enables instructors to replay recorded sessions for performance review.
Emirates' first A350 full-flight simulator has achieved level D qualification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the highest standard for this type of simulator, with the initial qualification completed without any findings—a remarkable milestone in the simulation industry. This advanced technology significantly enhances training efficiency and empowers pilots to master the skills necessary for smooth operations.

The airline has ordered three full-flight simulators for its A350 fleet, with the second simulator currently undergoing onsite acceptance and slated for EASA approval in November. The A350 fixed base training device is designed to replicate the flight deck, utilizing sophisticated visual and audio systems to create highly realistic training sessions.
Capt. Bader Al Marzooqi, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Flight Training, emphasized that innovation is at the heart of Emirates' operations. He noted, "We’re proud that we now have the potential to expand our pilot training capacity by 54%. With our investments in the new simulators and systems, our pilots and cabin crew are equipped, trained, and supremely confident to manage any operational challenge safely and competently."
Currently, nearly 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew members have completed training, with more than 50 pilots expected to finish their A350 simulator training by the end of November, just before the aircraft enters service. Emirates provides robust, evidence-based training delivered by highly experienced instructors in specialized environments.
Additionally, in June, Emirates announced a collaboration with IATA and Airbus to enhance its Competency-Based Training and Assessment program for A350 type ratings.
For its future growth, Emirates has placed orders for 65 A350s and 205 Boeing 777Xs, aiming to bolster its expansion goals and enhance service on existing routes.
In line with its growth strategy, Emirates is set to open an advanced pilot training facility later this year. Spanning 63,318 square feet, the facility will feature six full-flight simulator bays for both the A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft. Across its pilot training facilities, Emirates will provide 17 full-flight simulators capable of delivering over 130,000 training hours annually.
As part of its recruitment efforts, Emirates is actively seeking new pilots to join its distinguished team. Interested candidates can register for an online information session scheduled for October 16.
