Emirates Airline and S.L. Benfica have announced the extension of their partnership for an additional five seasons, continuing their collaboration until 2029. This renewal represents a major milestone in the relationship between the airline and the Portuguese football club, which has been ongoing for over a decade.
Since becoming Benfica's Official Airline Partner in 2014, Emirates has deepened its association with the club by featuring its prominent branding on Benfica's jerseys starting in 2015. The new contract is the longest and most significant in Benfica’s history, marking a new chapter with an updated "Fly Better" logo on the team’s kits. This rebranding highlights the shared commitment of both organizations to excellence and reaching new heights.
Boutros Boutros, Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Brand at Emirates, commented on the renewal, stating, “We view this extension as an opportunity to elevate the fan experience for Benfica’s passionate supporters in Portugal and globally. Our partnership with one of Europe’s most successful football clubs also underscores our long-term investment in Portugal, a key part of our European network and a country we have served for over a decade.”

Sport Lisboa e Benfica, known for its impressive record of 86 major trophies, including back-to-back European Cup victories, continues to be a dominant force in Portuguese football. The club’s home ground, Estádio da Luz, remains a focal point for supporters from around the world. Benfica’s presence in the UEFA Champions League and participation in FIFA’s Club World Cup in 2025 further cement its status in European football.
Rui Costa, president of S.L. Benfica, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership renewal, stating, “We are excited to extend our partnership with Emirates, a brand that stands for excellence and ambition. This renewal is a testament to the success of our collaboration and our shared vision for the future. We look forward to achieving even greater success together.”
Emirates, known for its extensive sponsorship portfolio, also partners with top European football clubs such as Arsenal, AC Milan, and Real Madrid, and has significant associations across various sports including sailing, rugby, tennis, and golf. The airline has been a steadfast supporter of Benfica since the 2015/16 season, with the "Fly Better" logo becoming a symbol of the club's kit.
Emirates operates 14 weekly flights to Lisbon, demonstrating its commitment to Portugal. The airline has transported over 2.6 million passengers to and from Portugal since starting its operations there, further strengthening trade and tourism links between the UAE and Portugal. In addition to its partnership with Benfica, Emirates also sponsors the Millennium Estoril Open and is involved in over 60 ATP tennis events globally.
