Egypt has made a significant improvement in the 2024 Global Youth Development Index, climbing 22 positions to rank 99th out of 183 countries. With a score of 0.733, the country has moved up from 123rd place in the 2020 edition of the index, reflecting positive strides in empowering its youth.

The Global Youth Development Index, which is published by the Commonwealth, assesses youth development across areas such as education, employment, health, civic participation, and opportunities for social engagement. Egypt's notable rise in the rankings underscores the nation's commitment to providing better opportunities for young people and nurturing their potential.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Minister of Youth and Sports, attributed this achievement to robust political support for youth programs, along with investments in infrastructure aimed at promoting youth empowerment. These efforts have been instrumental in enhancing the skills and capacities of young Egyptians, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the country's overall development.

Egypt's advancement in the Global Youth Development Index places it in the "high-performing" category, which highlights the progress made in areas crucial to youth development. This achievement is seen as a reflection of Egypt's growing focus on creating a positive environment for its young population, ensuring they are well-equipped to participate in the nation's social, cultural, and economic progress.

The country's rise in the rankings also signifies the increasing recognition of its youth as a valuable asset in driving future growth, and demonstrates the government's continued focus on policies that foster youth involvement in various sectors. With ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing education, providing employment opportunities, and encouraging civic engagement, Egypt is positioning itself as a leader in the region in terms of youth development.

As Egypt continues to invest in its youth, the improvements in the Global Youth Development Index are expected to serve as a foundation for long-term progress, creating a brighter future for the nation's younger generations.
