Ecuadorian beauty queen and social media influencer, Landy Parraga Goyburo, met a tragic end when she was shot dead at a restaurant in Quevedo city on April 28. Goyburo, aged 23, had participated in the 2022 Miss Ecuador contest and was in Quevedo city to attend a wedding.
Reports suggest that Goyburo's Instagram post, showcasing her "octopus ceviche" lunch, inadvertently disclosed her location to two unidentified assailants. Speculations arose linking her murder to her alleged involvement with Leandro Norero, a deceased drug trafficker, with suspicions pointing towards Norero's widow as a possible orchestrator.
Goyburo's association with Norero also surfaced in a corruption investigation implicating judicial officials with organized crime. Moments before her demise, Goyburo shared a photo of her meal on Instagram.

CCTV footage captured the chilling moment when two gunmen approached the restaurant, with one firing shots at Goyburo and the man she was conversing with. The assailants swiftly fled the scene after the fatal shooting. Goyburo succumbed to her injuries, having been struck three times.
Further investigations revealed Goyburo's photos in Norero's phone, along with evidence of extravagant gifts, including cars, bestowed upon her by the deceased drug trafficker. In December 2023, Goyburo's name resurfaced in a conversation between Norero and his accountant during the latter's trial. Prosecutors disclosed Norero's desperate plea to conceal his affair with the beauty queen, fearing repercussions from his wife.
Goyburo's tragic demise has not only shocked Ecuador but also shed light on the intertwining webs of crime, corruption, and personal affairs in society.
