EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Pilot Collapses Mid-Air

An EasyJet flight heading to Manchester had to make an emergency landing in Athens, Greece, after the pilot suddenly collapsed while flying the plane. The situation quickly turned chaotic as flight attendants abandoned their drink carts and rushed toward the cockpit, shouting for medical help.

As the crisis unfolded, the cabin crew immediately set up a screen around the pilot, who was in a serious condition. Shortly after, they announced to the passengers that the flight needed to make an emergency landing. The co-pilot quickly took control and successfully landed the plane at Athens airport, where ambulances and paramedics were already waiting on the runway to provide urgent medical care to the pilot.

Passengers on board were praising the co-pilot, saying that he did a heroic job handling the emergency and did an excellent job. The flight attendants also received appreciation for staying cool and managing the situation efficiently.

One passenger, who did not want to reveal their name, They said that about two hours into the flight, they noticed something unusual. The cabin crew had been serving drinks when suddenly, they rushed to the cockpit. A man had collapsed inside, and the crew urgently called for medical assistance.

"At first, we thought it was a passenger who had fallen sick because the crew was only asking if there were any doctors on board," the passenger said. "A few people got up to help, but soon after, we were informed that it was actually the captain of the flight who was unwell. That made everyone on board really anxious."

EasyJet later released a statement confirming the incident. A spokesperson said, "EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY2252 from Hurghada to Manchester had to be diverted to Athens because the captain needed medical attention. The First Officer landed the aircraft as per standard procedures, and paramedics were ready on arrival to assist."

The airline further added that the flight to Manchester had been delayed overnight because of this unexpected situation. The passengers were accommodated in a hotel with meals as they waited for their journey to be continued the following day. EasyJet apologized for the inconvenience and thanked everyone for their patience.

Until now, there is no report on the health update of the pilot. Meanwhile, travelers remained overnight in Athens and continued their journey to Manchester on Sunday, February 9.
