Following the disruption caused by the unexpected absence of more than 100 cabin crew members, Air India Express has announced plans to scale back its flight operations in the upcoming days. The airline's CEO, Aloke Singh, revealed that the abrupt sick reports from a significant number of cabin crew members, particularly those assigned to the L1 role, resulted in the cancellation and delay of over 90 flights across international and domestic routes. Passengers, especially those traveling from the UAE, found themselves stranded due to flight cancellations, leading to a surge in ticket prices for alternative airlines.

Entrepreneur Kishor Kumar shared his experience of being impacted by a flight cancellation while scheduled to fly from Kochi to Sharjah, highlighting the inconvenience faced by affected passengers. Meanwhile, the CEO acknowledged the disruptions cascading across the airline's network and expressed the necessity to curtail flight schedules to manage crew shortages and recover operations. He stressed that the actions of the absent cabin crew members do not reflect the dedication of the majority, who continue to serve guests diligently.

In response to the crisis, the airline's management has called for discussions to address any underlying concerns among staff members, emphasizing the importance of open communication channels. The delays and cancellations have raised concerns within the Ministry of Civil Aviation, prompting requests for a detailed report from Air India Express to resolve the issues promptly. Additionally, the airline has been advised to ensure that passengers receive necessary facilities in compliance with aviation regulations. Sources within the ministry revealed that the shortage of crew members began affecting flight operations on Tuesday night, leading to disruptions in both domestic and international routes. Some senior crew members reportedly cited health issues, switching off their mobile phones just before scheduled flight operations, exacerbating the situation.
