HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, as Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE), led the 82nd virtual meeting of the Council, joined by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the DSCE, and other esteemed members including HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the DSCE, and various influential figures from Dubai Municipality, Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Dubai Petroleum, and the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA). The focal point of discussion was the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, a comprehensive plan aimed at advancing eco-friendly and sustainable transportation solutions throughout the Emirate.
During the meeting, the RTA presented an overview of the Green Mobility Strategy, emphasizing its alignment with Dubai's strategic goals concerning sustainability, air quality improvement, and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. The strategy emphasizes the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles across the public transport sector, including buses, taxis, and the metro, in line with national objectives for sustainable development and carbon emissions reduction. RTA unveiled a roadmap outlining annual programs and initiatives geared towards transitioning all modes of public transport to carbon-free alternatives by 2050.

In addition to the Green Mobility Strategy, the council also assessed the progress of its annual management plan, evaluating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to water, electricity, energy, and central cooling sectors. These KPIs serve as benchmarks for the effectiveness of programs and projects endorsed annually to support governance and advancement within these vital sectors.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the DSCE, reiterated the council's commitment to realizing the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as a global leader in smart urban development and sustainability. Al Tayer emphasized the importance of eco-friendly transportation in achieving this vision, affirming the council's dedication to creating a sustainable environment that caters to the needs of present and future generations.
Echoing Al Tayer's sentiments, HE Ahmed Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of the DSCE, highlighted the significant strides made in Dubai's transportation sector over the past five years, particularly in the integration of electric and hybrid vehicles into RTA's fleet. He emphasized the positive impact of these efforts on enhancing the quality of public transport services and increasing ridership, underscoring Dubai's commitment to fostering a sustainable and efficient transportation infrastructure.
Overall, the meeting underscored the DSCE's unwavering commitment to advancing sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for all residents, citizens, and visitors in Dubai.
