Dubai school consortium declares 'No HIke on Fee' despite receiving approval

Post by: Dr. Amrinder Pal Singh

A Dubai school group has opted against raising tuition fees for the upcoming academic year, despite the approval for private schools in the city to increase fees by up to 5.2 percent. This decision aligns with the recent announcement by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), which set an Education Cost Index (ECI) of 2.6 percent for adjustments in school fees for the 2024-25 academic year.

Punit MK Vasu, CEO of The Indian High Group of Schools, explained the rationale behind their decision not to raise fees for the second consecutive year. Despite facing rising operational costs and inflation rates globally, coupled with the KHDA's allowance for fee increases beyond the standard scale, the school group has chosen to maintain current tuition rates.

Vasu emphasized their commitment to supporting parents facing financial challenges, believing that by refraining from fee hikes, families can allocate savings to other educational priorities. The school group also pledged to continue investing in technology, learning resources, and staff incentives to enhance teaching methodologies and employee satisfaction.

Furthermore, the school group outlined plans for infrastructure improvements, including an upgraded fleet of buses and campus enhancements, while maintaining performance-based appraisal programs for staff.

By choosing not to implement fee increases, the school aims to alleviate financial pressure on parents while remaining committed to delivering quality education. They encourage other schools to adopt similar approaches to ensure affordability and accessibility for students.
