Dubai Customs and DP World Partner to Boost Digital Trade Transformation

Dubai Customs has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DP World, aimed at bolstering Dubai's ambitions to become one of the world's leading economic cities. This collaboration is designed to enhance the emirate's role in advancing international trade and logistics services.

The MoU outlines a strategy to develop and enhance digital trade and logistics solutions in Dubai. It focuses on transforming existing customs systems through a partnership with DP World, leveraging innovative digital technologies to create a more efficient customs experience. By streamlining stakeholder interactions within the trade and logistics sectors, the initiative supports Dubai's competitiveness as a global trade and logistics hub while contributing to the objectives of Dubai’s D33 economic agenda.

The agreement was formalized by H.E. Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC. The signing ceremony also included Mohamed AbuHamra, Chief Operating Officer of Digital Technology at DP World GCC, along with senior executives and department heads from both organizations.

In his remarks, H.E. Dr. Busenad emphasized that the MoU aligns closely with Dubai Customs’ vision and strategy to facilitate trade and deliver a world-class customs experience. He highlighted that this partnership aims to increase the value of Dubai's non-oil foreign trade and implement the economic agenda initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He noted that the agreement involves collaborative efforts to implement joint projects, enhance customs programs, and streamline processes, ensuring rapid government services that utilize advanced technologies and digital solutions.

Abdulla Bin Damithan added that the partnership signifies a crucial advancement in DP World’s commitment to driving digital innovation within the trade and logistics sectors. By combining the strengths of both organizations and utilizing state-of-the-art technology, the MoU aims to create a more seamless and efficient experience for businesses in Dubai, thereby facilitating cross-border trade flows.
