On Friday, over 400 volunteers, including 100 from Aldar, gathered to assemble 10,000 essential school kits for children from low-income families across the UAE. This event, part of the ‘Back to School’ edition of Volunteer Emirates by Dubai Cares, marked a major milestone in the ongoing partnership between Aldar—serving as the Platinum Sponsor—and Dubai Cares.
Held for the first time in Abu Dhabi, the initiative saw unprecedented participation from both long-term supporters and local community members eager to support educational empowerment. The assembled school kits, filled with crucial supplies, will be distributed to students throughout the UAE, ensuring they start the new academic year equipped and confident.
Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares, expressed his gratitude, stating, “The success of this initiative owes much to the extraordinary commitment of the volunteers and our sponsor, Aldar, who joined us in Abu Dhabi. Their involvement not only made this event possible but highlighted the profound impact of community engagement in tackling social issues. We are proud to partner with Aldar and our volunteers to provide every child with the tools necessary for academic success.”

Faisal Falaknaz, Aldar’s Group Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer, shared his admiration for the event, saying, “The sight of over 400 volunteers coming together to support children with essential school kits was truly inspiring. It was heartening to see both long-time supporters and new volunteers unite for such a significant cause. The energy and sense of community were exceptional, and we eagerly anticipate future events that foster community spirit and support worthy causes across the UAE.”
Shalin Kaladharan, a dedicated volunteer with Dubai Cares since 2013, highlighted the value of volunteering, stating, “Participating in Dubai Cares initiatives has been deeply fulfilling. Each event is meticulously organized, allowing us to contribute with passion and purpose. My commitment to volunteering has only grown since my first experience, and I am proud to have become a volunteer leader in 2020.”
Safiya Japanwala, an Indian volunteer who has lived in the UAE for over 30 years, shared her enthusiasm for the initiative, “This is my first time volunteering with Dubai Cares, inspired by my cousin’s invitation. I felt that donating alone wasn’t enough, so I wanted to be more involved. Seeing so many people from different backgrounds coming together for a common goal has been truly amazing.”
The ‘Back to School’ edition of Volunteer Emirates underscores Dubai Cares’ mission to promote inclusive education and community engagement across the UAE and beyond. It also aligns with Aldar’s broader efforts to enhance community well-being and educational opportunities for underprivileged children.
